Welcome to Lucid! By accessing or using our AI-powered document editor, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using our service.

Lucid is owned and operated by Stephen James Dalanon ("we", "us", or "our").

1. Service Description

Lucid is an AI-powered document editor that allows you to:

  • Create and edit documents using a rich text editor
  • Format documents using natural language AI commands
  • Generate document content with AI assistance
  • Export documents to PDF, DOCX, and other formats

Documents are stored locally in your browser. AI features require sending content to third-party AI providers for processing.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Lucid
  • If you are under 18, you must have parental consent
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account

3. Content Ownership & Rights

Your Content

You retain full ownership and intellectual property rights to all documents and content you create using Lucid. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

Our Software

Lucid, including its software, design, features, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use our service according to these Terms.

AI-Generated Content

Content generated by our AI features belongs to you. However, similar content may be generated for other users. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before use.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to use Lucid to:

  • Create illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or harassing content
  • Generate content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with our security features
  • Use automated systems or bots to access the service without permission
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code
  • Overload or disrupt our systems or infrastructure
  • Use the service to send spam or unsolicited communications
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these policies.

5. Payment Terms

Subscription Pricing

  • Standard subscription: $4.99 USD per month
  • Early adopter discount: 50% off ($2.49 USD per month) locked in forever
  • Prices may change for new subscribers with 30 days notice

Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance
  • Payment is processed securely by Paddle
  • Your subscription automatically renews unless canceled

Cancellation & Refunds

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time
  • Canceled subscriptions remain active until the end of the billing period
  • Refunds are available within 14 days of initial purchase

6. AI Features & Limitations

Important AI Disclaimer

Our AI features are provided as tools to assist with document formatting and generation. AI may make mistakes, produce inaccurate content, or not fully understand your intent.

By using AI features, you acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content may contain errors and should be reviewed before use
  • AI responses may vary and are not guaranteed to be consistent
  • Document content is sent to third-party AI providers for processing
  • We are not responsible for decisions made based on AI-generated content
  • AI features may be modified, limited, or discontinued at any time

7. Data Storage & Privacy

  • Your documents are stored locally in your browser's localStorage
  • We do not maintain a server-side database of your documents
  • Clearing your browser data will delete your locally stored documents
  • You are responsible for backing up important documents using our export features

8. Service Availability

  • We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime
  • The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance or updates
  • AI features depend on third-party providers and may experience outages
  • We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • Lucid is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • We are not liable for any loss of data, including documents stored locally
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months
  • We are not responsible for actions taken based on AI-generated content

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lucid and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

  • You may stop using Lucid and cancel your subscription at any time
  • We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms
  • We may discontinue the service with 30 days notice to active subscribers
  • Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately
  • Sections regarding ownership, liability, and indemnification survive termination

12. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Lucid will be resolved through:

  1. Good faith negotiation between the parties
  2. If negotiation fails, binding arbitration or court proceedings as appropriate

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Posting a notice on our website
  • Sending an email to registered users
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date above

Continued use of Lucid after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
